The After

Do you remember the before? Probably not since I posted it last year around this time. I wanted to test out the new set-up to see how I liked before I posted again on the reorganization. And then, as usual, things got messy in the process of creation. Honestly, I don't think there is a way to avoid the mess. I think it's a reflection of my brain at work and apparently that ain't pretty or tidy. So unless I change the brain, I think I''ll have to live with a little chaos. The bright side of it all is that things are so much less crazy than before. And so much easier to put in order when I get around to it.

Check this out...

Chad built these pattern drawers. Now I actually put my patterns away and can find them easily rather than digging through a huge pile and searching in frustration. It's on wheels so I can roll it to the end of my cut out table to add a little length when needed.

Here are two more that create another work table when rolled together.

We also added more task lighting and improved the overhead lighting as well.

All in all, I think I'm getting more work done in a more efficient matter. I'm less frustrated which helps with the creative flow and I don't trip over things quite as often which is good for my health :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the hubs and his organizational prowess, skill and craftsmanship!!!

New Dresses for Summer

I finally got to do do the photo shoot for the new dresses today. Thank you to my adorable friend Jenn for modeling :) I am so excited about all of these! They're all crying out for a space in my closet and I can't decide which one gets to stay with me. I know, terrible problem to have, right? Which is your favorite?

Traveling Trunk Show

I just arrived back home from my trunk show tour. I was having so much fun and such great conversations that I didn't manage to get many photos at the actual events but here are a few snapshots from the trip.

On my way.

Tasty, a hand made wonderland in Greenwood, hosted the first show. If you ever need a gift for that hard to buy for person, this is the place to shop!

Sheri, my host, in a vintage Melanie Grace Design.

The ferry to Whidbey Island.

Next stop Newport. Here's Katy catching some rays during our beach hike. She's the best host EVER! I'm tempted to move in :)

It was such a gorgeous day and the tide was out so of course we thought we could go forever.
Oops, we got caught on the wrong side of a point when the tide came back in!

The sea lions were out too, napping in the sun.

Thank you so much to all the of the fabulous women who came to the shows and shared their stories. I'm feeling inspired by you all, refreshed by the getaway and ready to get back to work! I needed that!

Just Tickled

It's been a bit of a feather frenzy around here coupled with kitchen chaos but things are starting to recover now that the cabinets are in place and all the cupboard inhabitants herded to their proper dwelling places. We still need a floor and a counter top but I'm happily able to cook again and  thrilled to no longer be fetching spices from the office and food from the porch. Not to mention my giddiness about the gorgeous  and long awaited cabinets cabinets that Chad built (I'll post pics soon).

Here are a few shots of the new fabrics and designs I'm all aflutter about!

Almond Cookies

Here's one of my favorite cookie recipes.

Almond Cookies

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup almond
1/2-1 teaspoon almond extract (depending on your taste)
1 1/4 cup Kamut flour

Preheat oven to 350°F . Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and extract. I like a really almondy cookie and use the full teaspoon but you can use less if you have less of a tolerance for almond flavor. In food processor, grind almonds to a coarse meal. I use crispy almonds from Nourishing traditions for a little more flavor, but you can use regular or toasted almond instead. Add almonds and flour and mix until combined. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls and place on cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Use a shorter time if you like soft chewy cookies (Chad) or longer if you like them crispy (me). Makes 16-18 cookies.

Note: I love the flavor of Kamut flour and use it in my baking whenever possible. I have run out and tried whole wheat pastry flour for this recipe instead of Kamut. It's yummy too but you need to add a bit more.

Warning: Don't make these unless you have someone to share them with, if you're like me you will eat them all!

The 2012 Spring Collection!!

Well, we had loads of fun shooting the latest collection. There's nothing like blowing up piles of balloons to shift your perspective to the bright side. I'm definitely ready to shed some layers and see some sun so I can sport some of these fun new designs.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

Wardrobe Staples

I have a black and white version of this bamboo jersey top that I wear all the time. It's just so soft and it seems to go with everything. I think this one may make it into the regular rotation as well.

On a completely unrelated note, I took this shot on a hike down to our little creek. The ice is really dynamic this time of year, it never looks the same from day to day. These shards are several feet wide and look like lace and polka dots. What can I say, everywhere I look I see fabric! :)

Why the title? I think I've been playing a little too much WWF lately and just liked the look of it. That's Words With Friends, not World Wrestling Federation, though maybe I should take up the wrestling version instead. Sounds like a fun workout.
Any who, here's the latest for the spring line. Perfect polished yet casual apr├Ęs beach wear, don't you think?

A Report from Inside the Snow Globe

I love it when the snow flies especially when the flakes are huge and downy. The view from my living room makes me feel like I'm inside a snow globe. Ever wonder what the little people, in the little house, inside your snow globe were up to? Why making dresses, of course. Here's my report from the inside:)

This blue spiral lace over a cream lining reminds me of the intricate frost patterns forming out on my front step. That might be a nice reminiscence while wearing this on a hot summer day.

Everyone love a LBD. Why? It makes you look fabulous and put together with so little effort. It's the embodiment of no thought required, simple, savvy, sleek dressing. Here's my version the LBLD (little black lace dress).

I'm getting close to being ready for the full collection photo shoot. Can't wait to see these on the models!
